/ Historical Tourism

Lovers of historical tourism will find a little piece of the first colonial years at the Oldest City of America. It has preserved in excellent condition the colonial architecture. UNESCO has included the Dominican Colonial City in the "World Heritage" list. Cobblestone narrow streets and warm marine breeze tell the story of more than five hundred years of history. They lead to the first monuments ever built in the New World, such as the cathedral "Catedral Primada de América," the University of Santo Tomás de Aquino, the oldest fortress "Fortaleza Ozama," the Alcázar de Colón house of Diego Colón, and several churches.

Other cities such as Santiago de los Caballeros and Puerto Plata also have interesting historical sites to explore.
