The Dominican Republic, with a privileged geographical position in the center of the Americas, is becoming one of the faster developing Latin American countries in duty-free zones. The government is implementing new customs and tax legislation that aims to support industrial sectors by benefiting productivity and promoting foreign investment. The free zone Law 8-90 stimulates the creation of new free zones to increase employment rates.

Free zones are located in strategic points all over the country, but mainly in Santiago de los Caballeros, San Isidro and other areas nearby Santo Domingo. There are huge industrial parks that offer the most suitable conditions to establish a free zone in terms of infrastructure, wastewater treatment facilities, transportation, financial institutions, communications and maintenance.

Manufacturers of apparel, footwear, electronics, sporting goods, pharmaceuticals, processed foods and furniture as well as providers of telemarketing and data entry, benefit from the organizational system and technology that both the government and private sectors offer to investors.
