The Country has a privileged geographic position in benefit of the telecommunication services that facilitates a clear and effective transmission via telephone, mobile, fax, cable, internet or other technologies, with a high end quality, compared to developed nations.

In 2000 telecommunications boomed with the establishment of many multinational enterprises. Orange (France Telecom), Centennial (Viva), Tricom joined the pioneer CODETEL (recently purchased by American Mobile), which had monopolized the market for many years.

The millionaire investments resulted in strong competition and aggressive marketing promotions that have allowed the country to stay at the vanguard of technological developments while keeping accessible prices for state of the art services and products.

Other multinationals are aiming to enter the market. Viva (mobile communication) and Onemax (internet provider) have successfully positioned themselves since 2007 in the highly demanding Dominican Telecommunications market.
